Its a matter of shame that a military dictator has refused to resign from his army position, since he knows that the day he shuns his uniform he would be overthrown as did to Nawaz Sharif.

If I had the power, I would have made General Musharraf "a king of Pakistan" so that he could focus on his objectives with complete control. I guess these greedy and incompetent politicians of Pakistan won't let him do anything. They know if president achieved what he has in mind then they will become politically feeble.

The entire silent majority of Pakistanis at home as well as abroad hates these politicians and their tactics designed to grab the power by hook and crook. Have any of these so-called 'leaders' have done even a single thing beneficial to the country? Absolutely not.

Today whatever we see development in Pakistan of any sort was done by the army rulers. Hence, Pervez Musharraf should not agree to shun the military job.

General Musharraf has improved the economic conditions of Pakistan. Billion of dollars are now in the treasury, which was not possible in the presence of Nawaz Sharif or Benazir Bhutto. Everybody knows that what they did with the national exchequer.

We need such sincere people like Pervez Musharraf to work for national development.

Yes. At present Musharraf's decision is in the best interest of our country.

It is essential for the President Pervez Musharraf to stay in military uniform because our politicians are focusing on their selfish interest. I think he is the best for the Pakistan future. No one can handle the situation of our country as he is handling it .

A complete democratic system in Pakistan without any mixture will make us a nation with dignity and honour.

In my opinion meddling up of the Pakistan Army in politics and civil government affairs will damage its identity and respect and the image of country as well.

Personally, I think these politicians should cooperate with him to scrap corruption from the country, reduce poverty, improve the life standard of the masses and convince him to introduce policies to make education mandatory for everyone.

Instead of focusing on the sicknesses that are weakening the very foundation of Pakistan, these politicians are only trying to prove that they have a say in Pakistan and that nothing will be done unless their egos are satisfied.

It is essential for the President Pervez Musharraf to stay in military uniform for peace and security as well as economic stability, because our politicians are focusing on selfish interest. Females feel well protected under his rule.

President of Pakistan Musharraf Pervez should stay in his uniform, as under the present regional and global political scenario, it is in the best national interests that President of Pakistan.

Yes. This is in favour of national interest. I do agree that democracy is better for any nation like us, but the way the democracy is established over in our country is not good.

History is witness as to during the Ayub Khan's military rule, the country was developed economically.

I feel that now Gen. Pervez Musharraf should abandon the military position since he is president of the country that is enough for him.

Dictatorship will not go in favour of Pakistan. We need real democracy to provoke and this is only possible when Army will not interfere in Politics.

I think every decision taken by President Pervez Musharraf till now is absolutely in favour of national interests.

President Pervez Musharraf is absolutely right and he needs not to bow down before opportunist leaders. I am sure he is doing his good job till now. He needs not to shed his uniform.

President Musharraf is now nation's pride and he should not surrender under any circumstances. For, due to his policies now Pakistan has continued to revive economically and politically. The nation needs leader like him.

I fully agreed with president's decision because this is the need of the time to be in military uniform.

I think President Musharraf is a good leader and responsible person too. We should give him a free hand to take our country to the right direction.

He is the only one who can do some thing for Pakistan. So far as the Opposition is concerned it always played a negative role and our people are paying for that.

Pervez Musharraf should remain there in order to achieve prosperous Pakistan we have seen every one but he is the real man. His all decisions are in favour of Pakistan

I read different opinions on the web site from different people. I am amazed while reading one of those in which the sender has specified that the uniform has become a joke rather than a symbol. I want to ask that fellow if he ever bothered to think why Musharraf is doing this?

I completely endorse the decision of President Musharraf and it would be wise choice to let him to continue with the military uniform along with being even as a president

In my opinion President Musharraf has made a right decision to stay in uniform.

Lets admit the fact that Democracy does not work well in Pakistan, we need a dictator for another 15 years.

Is think he should abandon military post and put himself in front of the parliament and be elected or leave altogether and let people govern if u understand.

Under the present global political scenario, let the President Gen. Musharraf stay with the military uniform as it is better for the national interests.

Musharraf should remove his military uniform and have balance of power b/w pm Parliament and president as soon as possible.

President Musharraf's refusal to declare the date for removing his military uniform is absolutely in favour of the national interest.

President Musharraf deserves a lot of credit who is working very hard to build a strong Pakistan, lets all support him and give him a hand of applause.

The members of the opposition parties had better put their self-interests and confrontations aside and work together to rebuild Pakistan as a strong nation. This will be good for the country and will be good for the coming generation and what difference does it make if he stays in uniform or not?

In my opinion President Pervaiz Mushrraf is the right leader for the country at the moment and he should not remove his uniform.

The opposition comprises of the bunch of troublemakers who are playing in the hands of the enemies of Pakistan. Their past record is an evidence of their being insincere to the interest of the people of Pakistan, they without any exception are utterly selfish and deserve no confidence of the people.

I believe it is in our national interest if President. Musharraf keeps his uniform wearing while serving as a President of Pakistan.

Those opposition members took oath to serve the interests of Pakistan; but at present all of their energies are being devoted towards destabilisation of the country.

I’m pretty sure that Gen. Musharraf should keep his uniform and the presidency as long as he thinks that it’s necessary for the country.

Leaving President Musharraf with uniform has the following advantages:

1. In the fight against terrorism, the terrorists may have targeted President Musharraf (and army) as their main enemy. Any civilian would not be able to keep up resistance to terrorists and to extremists.

2. Leaving President Musharraf in uniform will cause continuation of economic policies and will lead us to development just like governmental stability in Malaysia has led to tremendous economic growth in that country.

Suhail Khan

President Musharraf is the best leader Pakistan has ever had. He is better than all predecessors. He might technically be a dictator but he acts the way a democratic leader does.

Musharraf cares about the country and is not interested in lining his own pockets unlike all those current hypocrites in the Assembly who are moaning about the LFO only because its harder for them to get illegal financial gains.

Musharraf to stay until corruption is well on the way out and hopefully he won't turn nasty.

If he removed his uniform then some one from his own military would kick him out. That's the main problem with these people.

Fakhre Alam

Since the President General Pervez Musharraf has refused to remove Now the president doesn't want to remove his uniform and he has categorically refused to do so. In this scenario, I can suggest the issue can be solved only by if president doesn't want remove his uniform he should also give some extra uniforms of Major General ranks to the opposition leaders and he also should give a Lt. General's rank uniform to PM Jamali.

Its very strange that always the opposition and some other politicians are too much concerned about president’s military uniform. But what they should concern about only is to do some thing for the welfare of our society, our nation and particularly to their respective zones from where they are elected.

It’s a pity that every time the opposition just make such kinds of useless excuses to get some popularity but in fact this cannot make them popular rather show us their mentality and from this we can understand that they are unable and can’t do anything except just to criticise others.

Sharing power has always been good that leads to sharing of responsibilities. So general should shed his uniform which has now become a mere a joke symbol rather then a soldier's pride.

My message for the Pervez Musharraf is to never surrender to the pressure because the tallest trees are always under the heavy pressure of wind.

I think the best would option for would be to resigns from being president. As an army chief, he is better person to lead.

I fully endorsed his decision. If you recall our last 56 years, the Opposition always played a negtive role, my humble request is to participate and contribute in a positive way which is the need of hour.

Parliamentarians sitting on the opposition benches think that General Pervez Musharraf does not want to remove his military uniform so that he should prolong his tenure as the President of Pakistan.

Once I had an opportunity to meet the President and I found him a humble person. He is polite, courteous and a man of commitment. Leaving behind whatever the wishes may be of the opposition leaders, one should think of the bottom line. The opposition parties are not capable to deliver anything to the nation, except to walkout from the parliament.

People have also simultaneously elected the "graduate members" of the opposition parties and sent them in the assemblies to do the legislation and not to act as "nursery class children" in the parliament.

The opposition parties should leave upto the President as when he would like to give up his uniform. The matter of LFO and the President's uniform is a secondary matter. The primary concern for a common man of Pakistan is his own survival.

Let the General should stay in his uniform, as under the present regional and global political scenario, it is in the national interest that President of Pakistan should stay in his military uniform as long as he think.
